This movie is also a perfect fit for the kind of know-nothing nativism expressed by the likes of Sarah Palin and the "Tea Party" movement, and thus a sad commentary on the present condition of life in America as well. I was an emotional wreck and cried to the whole movie, and to this day I cannot watch this movie, just hearing the first few bars sends me into tears. And even though Im happy to say that after three relapses, Im still alive and cancer free, it brings back memories that will haunt me till the day I die, thats the power of music I guess.
